When we speak others listen – to varying degrees. Children with whom we have trusting relationships may hear our words as truth. Others may hear our words and test them. But then there’s the moment when we say something and there is immediate resonance in the heart of the listener. We might say we have struck a chord.
This happens with strangers when the truth of the words we speak resonates with the truth that is already in their heart. The words come from down deep and the resonance happens down deep.
Resonance is the beginning of a process that ultimately draws the listener closer and closer to the unveiling of the truth that is in them. And then a continual unveiling of more and more truth, as they begin the road of discovery themselves.
It’s an awesome thing to witness this kind of growth. But for me, resonance is the sweetest part because it’s always a surprise, and signals the beginning of a beautiful adventure.
