Thoughtful reflections, inspirations, or instigations. It depends on the day.

Waiting on the Tarmac

March 7, 2018

There’s always the possibility of delay. Someone forgot to do something, and now everyone has to wait. Something happened somewhere which caused the whole system to slow down or stop, and now everyone’s plan for the day has been disrupted.

Stuck in traffic, on the subway, or in a plane on the tarmac, I turn to a book, my journal, or, like right now, my daily writing. But if I can’t do any of those things, I am forced to pause. Productivity is beautiful, but so is rest.

More often than not, my rest comes from forced moments when my phone has died, or I have no access to a screen or the internet. Only then do I have the space to clear my mind.

Seems to me that’s backwards.

Oh, wait, the plane just started to move, gotta go.
